This shocker of a book will peel the rubber band off your investments.  Black and three of his buddies allegedly looted four companies of half a billion dollars that belonged to share holders.  Barbara Amiel, who admitted her « extravagance knew no bounds » had no trouble spending millions (she insisted on two gulfstream planes).  Black, in typical fashion, says he will crush his accusers at his trial this March.  He also says he wants his Canadian citizenship back.  Should we give it to him?

Neil, as a former lawyer my advice would be to include the word « allegedly » somewhere in your last post! As for his citizenship I don’t know what the rules are but I don’t think there should be anything automatic about him getting it back.

    Matthew Cope Says:

Conrad Black gave up his citizenship in order to become Lord Black. If he wants to get his citizenship back the least he should do is give up his peerage first. However, citizenship should not be something you put on and take off like a t-shirt. It actually means something. Witness the hundreds of thousands of would-be Canadians who wait years to become Citizens. Black has amply demonstrated what citizenship means to him, and he should join the queue just like everyone else (just like me, by the way), and he should take his chances, just like everybody else. If he qualifies he can become a Canadian. If he doesn’t… well, I suppose MISTER Black will be a Brit, which is not a bad thing to be.

Methinks that if we give Black some more time that he may get time and as a criminal he would be barred from entry to Canada.’Attila the Honey’ may get lonesome so as a fair minded Canadian I’d be willing to make the supreme sacrifice by sponsoring her entry into Canada. P.S. I’ve got the mirrors.
