Do pets go to heaven?  Dumb question. Right? Wrong.  A serious poll in the Washington Post found that 43 per cent of people believe their pets go to heaven and a whopping 93 per cent believe pets go to heaven whether their owners do or not.  Twenty-eight per cent said no pets in heaven. A Jesuit trained advisor on the poll says the more important question is whether someone’s “treatment of animals prevents him or her from joining God in paradise”

    SUZANNE Says:

No. Pets don’t have human souls. They don’t get resurrected.

But when the Earth is recreated in the New Age, we will probably have pets.

    Barbara Says:

I guess the definitions cooked up in theology would disallow the resurrection of pets. However, I doubt that God is limited to human thought patterns. If anyone can find a loophole, it is a merciful and all-loving God.

That Jesuit was quite correct about treating animals well here on earth.

I trust God will make the best decision.

God in all his glory, would never allow a pet, which was subject to human servitude for all of its life, rejoin his master for more. No, I think they were left behind to push up daisies and beautify. But not so for Mrs.O’Leary’s cow. No daisies for her. Anyone for a ready-to-serve filet mignon?
