Remember in October when President Bush said U.S. air strikes against Iran might be necessary to avert World War III.
The cover story on the current Maclean’s asks the question: “Is it time to bomb Iran?”
Now, lo and behold, the intelligence estimate of all American spy agencies has concluded that Iran shut down its nuclear weapons program four years ago. It also stated that it would be the middle of the next decade before any restarted weapons program could tip a missile with a warhead. The head U.S. spy spoke to Bush about new information on Iran last summer. Is it conceivable that Bush and Cheney went on with their sabre rattling despite this knowledge?
Haven’t we all seen this movie before with non-existent WMD’s in Iraq?
Yet Bush gets up at a press conference on Tuesday and spins this as just another warning that Iran could go nuclear in the future.
Do you share my sense of total frustration that lies continue to be the basis of Bush’s military and foreign p olicy?
And there doesn’t seem to be a thing the ordinary citizen can do about it.
